Research
Today and hereafter…
As I came from civil/structural engineering, my scientific production and my background are pervaded by numerical analysis and applied math/physics. Nevertheless, my main field is modeling and simulation. Today I’m moving towards Innovation, Machine Learning (ML), Data-Driven Modelling (DDM), Data/Decision Science (DS).
Hence, my main research subjects today are:
- Modeling and Simulation of Systems
- Machine Learning + Data-Driven Modelling
- (Generalized/Extended) Finite Element Methodologies
- Innovation

Emulation of particulate material morphology and stress analysis by (G/X)FEM.
- Material nonlinear analysis
Use of elastic-degrading constitutive models (based on continuum damage mechanics) and GFEM to model quasi-brittle material behavior
- Predictive modelling
Applying neural nets and linear models to predict elastic properties of concrete.
